Description
Most to-lets in Bangladesh are a paper sign on a gate, never a listing. You find them by walking. Basha Bazar records that walk, pins every to-let you pass, and turns those pins into a map the city builds together.
Solo build. App, backend, landing site, release pipeline.
Features
- Records your walking trail in the background, screen off.
- Pin a to-let with photos, rent, rooms, washrooms, floor, contact and notes.
- AI reads the phone number off a photo of the sign.
- Tap the number to call the landlord.
- One place, many contributors. Everyone adds their own block.
- Browse nearby to-lets in a photo grid, filtered by rent and rooms.
- Works offline. Pins sync when the network returns.
- Report bad listings. Two reports hide a place.
Technical
- React Native and Expo 57, dev build, TypeScript.
- Background GPS via expo-location and an Android foreground service.
- Supabase with Postgres, PostGIS viewport queries and row level security.
- Google sign-in behind a login wall, native ID token into a Supabase session.
- Gemini vision in an Edge Function, so no API key ships in the binary.
- Offline outbox in SQLite with idempotent upserts, so retries never duplicate.
- PostHog analytics and session replay, masked so no rent, contact or location leaks.
- Tag-driven CI builds a signed AAB straight to the Play internal track.
- Landing site in Next.js 16 and Tailwind v4, Bangla-first with English at /en.
